About Me

November 20, 2013

My name is Maureen Elizabeth Reese. I am Mom to six grown sons, Grandma to twelve and Great Grandma to five. My brother Morgan Franklin, who is four years older than me, is my only sibling. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, but am currently a resident of Minnesota.

I love nature and the outdoors, and have a variety of interests. These include, camping, fishing, gardening, baseball, wood crafts, live theater, cooking/baking, and reading anything pertaining to the Amish and Mennonite culture, and the early history of America. I am most interested in the everyday lives of the colonials and pioneers that are the backbone of our country.

My music genre includes, Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, Country Gospel, and Celtic. One of my favorite internet radio stations is www.southerngospel.com. Although I don't have the gift or ability to play an instrument, I do have a few sons, a grandson, and a brother who play guitar, banjo, mandolin, etc. My Great Grandfather Rees Rees brought his love of music with him, when he left the hills of Wales to come to the coal mines of Ohio and eventually Pennsylvania. Music has always played a huge part in the life of our family. I never had the chance to know my great grandfather, as he died 43 years before I was born, but he passed his love of singing down to his son, grandson, and great grandson, all named Morgan.

The older I get, the more I see that our society is becoming more and more fast-paced, which seems to be a priority of the younger generation. The last ten years has found me working as an Office Administrator, until I was recently let go. I previously held the positions of nursing assistant, human services technician, and med- ical technician, for more years than I care to admit; and all of which I am no longer physically capable of doing.

The purpose of this blog is to celebrate my heritage and to share with others the joy and blessings of not only being part of a blood related family, but of something bigger.............that of being a part of the family of God, who created us to be in a relationship, not only with each other but with Him.
